Abstract
The tissues beneath the heel play an important role in how the foot responds to the loads of standing and walking. This presentation shared research findings on heel-pad structure and mechanical behaviour in the context of ageing and foot function across the life course. The session brought these findings into discussion with a patient and public involvement panel, where attendees shared their perspectives and explored the questions raised by the research. Their contributions helped identify priorities and scope future research directions, connecting scientific findings with the experiences and interests of those taking part.
